Candle Burning Tips

Our candles can bring a great ambience to your home for many hours.  A few tips are listed here to ensure you get the maximum amount of enjoyment from each candle.  PLEASE REMEMBER:  A burning candle is an open flame!  Keep an eye on your candle, and never leave it unattended.

First time burning:

The first time you burn the candle, please burn long enough for the entire top of the candle to liquify.  This is usually 2-3 hours.  Wax has a "memory" and may leave wax around the sides on subsequent burns.

Extinguishing:

It is ALWAYS best to extinguish a candle by dunking the wick, or snuffing it out.  When a candle is blown out, it smokes which will ruin the pleasant smell in the room.  Never use water to extinguish a candle.  It could cause the glass to break.  We offer a simple wick dipper which is inexpensive, but works great!

Our choice

We offer a very simple metal wick dunker.

Trim the wick:

Before you light the candle again, we recommend that you trim the wick to about 1/4".  This will remove any carbon build up that may have formed on the wick.  Carbon can fall into the wax and could be a fire hazard.

Burn away from drafts:

Candles always burn better when drafty situations are avoided.  Drafts can cause uneven burning, or they can cause the wick to "flare" and become a possible fire hazard.
